“My Visit to the Memorial of the Murdered Jews of Europe”, 2015, 1:55
“My visit to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe”, is part of her ongoing research around Germany’s counter monuments with a specific focus on Berlin’s Holocaust Memorial. This video features observations from her personal experiences and frustrations as a tourist and an artist spending time at this public space.
Rachel Zaretsky
is an artist living in New York. She strives to learn more about the distinctions and commonalities between our lived experiences and our documented experiences. In her artwork she amplifies her fixation on the Objecthood of memory, its displacement and relocation through our constant documentation. Through the digital sphere we contain and memorialize both the mundane and monumental moments of our lives with seemingly equal importance. She graduated from The School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Visual and Critical Studies.
